Jose Rodriguez is a native to New York City and currently resides in Teaneck, NJ. He began piano studies at the age of eight and bass at the age of twelve. Jose earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education at New Jersey City University with concentrations in classical and jazz studies. He also worked on a master's degree at S.U.N.Y Purchase conservatory and concluded his Master's degree at NJCU. Jose established himself as an on demand freelance bassist on double bass and electric bass over the years and now enjoys an active freelance career.
Jose performs regularly in the Latin, classical, jazz, big band and pop genres and is a member of the Alan Quinn Big Band and the Sonido Costeno, a Latin band. He provides private lessons and is an adjunct professor at Keane University in New Jersey and arranges music for Latin and big bands, orchestras and string quartets. Jose has performed with the New Jersey State Opera, Garden State Philharmonic, Albert Einstein Symphony Orchestra, New York Repertory Orchestra, Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company (Ridgewood), Monmouth Civic Chorus, Staten Island Philharmonic, American Stage Company, Lyric Opera of Bergen County, the Academy Symphony Orchestra and had the privilege of performing with the 2001 National Festival Orchestra at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Lucas Foss. In the summer of 2011 Jose toured France with the Franco-American Voice Academy (FAVA).
